Laura Ryan and Ruth Ash own and lead What if HR… Together we have 40+ years of combined experience across a wide variety of sectors, both in the UK and Internationally.

Having spent most of our working life under the corporate umbrella in early 2006 we decided we were ready to move on and set up our own business.

Our individual specialisms, our shared work ethics and values made the decision to set up an HR business together an easy one.
We believe that our combined experience and expertise gives our clients a much richer offering.

We are truly motivated by helping businesses mobilise their people to achieve business goals.

We have a highly commercial, relationship driven approach to what we do.
We and our core of chosen associates who work with us, demonstrate what we believe HR is about. This is expressed in the values that we have created for our Company.

Our name ‘What if HR…’ was created as a result of our desire to really get people to think about the What if? of HR

I have held a wide range of roles both in HR and Operations, both ‘in-house’ and as a Consultant for a number of different Companies both in the UK and Internationally. These include Debenhams, The Burton Group, Arcadia Group, Curry’s, MFI Furniture Group and Howdens Joinery.

I have created and led many HR functions with specific focus on truly engaging people to achieve business goals. I have gained valuable Employee Relations experience including working with Trade Unions such as the T&G and USDAW.
I have led a number of TUPE projects, including mergers and acquisitions including pre and post MBO.
I am a fluent French speaker who is a relationship-driven, pragmatic individual, driven to deliver and get the job done.

Laura Ryan

I have held a number of HR and Line roles both ‘in house’ and as a Consultant for FTSE and Small Medium Entreprises (SMEs), including Kingfisher, Woolworths, London 2012, Celebrations Group and Nestle Purina. My last ‘in house’ role was as Group HR and Operational Improvements Director at MFI.

An experienced HR Practitioner I have led a number of significant change management and leadership programmes, successfully facilitating cultural change and achieving improved organisational performance.
I demonstrate an infectious enthusiasm about how to get the best out of people. I have significant experience in the whole spectrum of the HR agenda.

Working within multi-discipline teams, I have a reputation for being down to earth, straight forward with high emotional intelligence. I am results orientated with a real ability to ’make things happen’ at pace.
